Where are we located?

We are located in the Little Salmon River Basin exactly 20  miles north of New Meadows and 13 miles south of Riggins on Highway 95 between milepost 181 & 182. Only 2 1/2 hours from Boise, 2 hours from Lewiston, and 30 minutes from McCall  https://youtu.be/3lJAwsjGM5Q . The Last Resort Lodge sits on the banks of the Little Salmon River.

25 miles as the crow flies, puts you in either the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area or the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area.

We are easy to find – as we are on the only highway, road, horse trail, or deer trail that links north and south Idaho.

Major airports at Boise and at Lewiston provide commercial arrival and departure convenience and car rentals – Boise car rentals – Lewiston car rentals

You can fly your own plane into the McCall Municipal Airport and car rentals are available. They also provide backcountry and city-to-city flights.

For our backcountry trips based out of Yellowpine, Idaho, there is a backcountry airstrip at Johnson Creek.  Check Air Nav for Johnson Creek when planning a trip to that airport.

If you elect to fly and not drive to Yellowpine, we could meet and greet you at Johnson Creek Airport and begin your adventure from there. Beware that this is backcountry flying that requires backcountry flying experience and skills.

Surrounding area

The Last Resort Lodge sits on the banks of the Little Salmon River. A leisurely stroll from the back deck, and you can be casting your fly to a feisty rainbow. We enjoy a very picturesque mountain and canyon setting with elevations ranging from 1600’ above sea level to over 9800’ within a radius of 10 miles. The geology and biological fauna and flora are very diverse and photographic. Bring your camera!

Because of the elevation gradient, we enjoy a very mild winter climate and warm to hotter temperatures in the summertime at the lower elevations and winter snow accumulating conditions in the higher elevations together with summertime warm days and cool evenings.  We enjoy some of the cleanest, unpolluted air in the world that makes for phenomenal star gazing.
